Meet our new friend Madilyn
Madilyn, a beautiful and vibrant 7-year-old, just wants to be ‘one of the girls’. Like most girls her age Madilyn enjoys art projects, playing with friends and swimming. Especially close to her heart is being a Girl Scout, fully able to explore possibilities and turn dreams into reality with friends by her side.
Madilyn was diagnosed with a hereditary Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy at an early age. She experienced facial and shoulder muscle weakness but resisted using a power wheelchair because she can still stand and walk.
With the extreme fatigue and weakness, she needed to conserve her energy and not overtax her shoulders as her disease progresses. The prescribed Mini Maxx Power Positioning System on a Rovi base topped with a Matrx PS Cushion and Mini Back has helped Madilyn accept and embrace the use of a power wheelchair. Madilyn loves her Butterflies dipped fenders and matching pink seating, and her parents are in awe at the new-found freedom, comfort and independence the power wheelchair has given her. Now Madilyn can be active again, spend time with her Girl Scout friends and go on adventures into the woods with her family!
